Kokoda Challenge - Sunshine Coast
The Kokoda Challenge on the Sunshine Coast is a team endurance event held on Gubbi Gubbi Country that starts in Kenilworth and follows tracks through Imbil State Forest. The route includes steep climbs, rugged bushland and river crossings, and reflects the Kokoda values of courage, endurance, mateship and sacrifice while honouring the diggers of the 1942 Kokoda Campaign.
Teams choose from multiple distance options and travel together along marked courses. The event supports the Kokoda Youth Foundation; fundraising from teams helps fund fully funded youth programs that aim to build confidence and skills in young people.
Distances:
- 18 km
- 30 km
- 48 km
Entries are team only; solo entries are not permitted. Registration fees and minimum fundraising targets vary by distance and team size, and each team must meet its minimum fundraising target before event day. The 18 km, 30 km and 48 km formats have different checkpoint arrangements and minimum age requirements. Support crews are strongly recommended for the 48 km option and a support crew checkpoint is provided for that distance. Course maps and additional event details are published prior to the event and may be adjusted for trail or council requirements. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
