Kilburn Kanter
The 37th Kilburn Kanter takes place on Saturday 7 November 2026. It is a 24 mile Challenge Walk across the Hambleton Hills with about 3,500 ft of ascent and a 10 hour time allowance.
The route starts at Kilburn Village Hall and goes via Scotch Corner, Cold Kirby, Tylas Farm, Hawnby, High Paradise, Boltby, Gormire Lake and the White Horse before returning to Kilburn. The event includes a series of checkpoints along the route that entrants must visit before checkpoint closing times.
Entry is by online registration only from 22 June. Entry fees are LDWA members £13 and non members £20. The fee covers tea and toast at the start, refreshments en route, an event badge and a certificate. Refunds are subject to a £2 administration charge; no refunds are issued from 1 October 2026 and entries cannot be carried over.
Entrants must follow the published route and visit checkpoints; anyone retiring must do so at a checkpoint. A vehicle will return retired participants to event headquarters. LDWA marshals may retire participants who fail to follow the rules or who are judged unfit to continue. Dogs are not permitted on the event.
Required kit includes a map, compass, waterproofs, fleece, whistle, torch, first aid kit and a mug for checkpoint drinks. Participants are asked to take all rubbish home for disposal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
