Keji's Backyard Ultra takes place at Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site with registration and start/finish located at the Jim Charles Point parking lot, 2 Jeremys Bay Campground Rd, Annapolis County, NS, Canada. The event is scheduled for June 5, 2027 and is capped at 175 runners.
The race uses a backyard ultra format: participants run an out-and-back loop of 6.67 km and must complete each loop within 60 minutes. If a runner exceeds 60 minutes for a loop they are eliminated. Loops repeat hourly until only one runner completes the loop within the time limit. The course notes approximately +35 m elevation gain per loop.
Cash payouts are tiered by distance completed: 50 yards or less = $1500 for the winner and $500 for the assist; 51-75 yards = $2500 for the winner and $1000 for the assist; 76+ yards = $5000 for the winner and $1500 for the assist. The listed registration fee includes custom NSTR swag and draw prize eligibility.
Logistics and policies: 75% refund available up to March 1, 2027 and 50% refund up to May 15, 2027. Transfers are not allowed because of a wait list. Deferrals are allowed if the registrant volunteers for an eight hour shift at the 2027 KBU event or at the 2027 Capes 100. Vehicle limit is two per runner; additional crew must park elsewhere in the park.
