Keji's Backyard Ultra 2027
Keji's Backyard Ultra takes place at Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site, with registration and the start/finish located at the Jim Charles Point parking lot. The event is capped at 175 runners and vehicle access is limited to two vehicles per runner; additional crew must park elsewhere in the park.
The format is a backyard ultra: every hour participants must complete an out and back course of 6.67 km on an easy gravel trail. If a runner takes longer than one hour for a loop they are out of the race. The sequence repeats every hour until only one runner completes the loop within the time limit. Runners who finish a loop early have time to rest and socialize before the next loop begins.
Cash payouts are tiered by final distance. For 50 yards or less the winner receives CA$1500 and the assist CA$500. For 51 to 75 yards the winner receives CA$2500 and the assist CA$1000. For 76 yards and over the winner receives CA$5000 and the assist CA$1500.
Registration policies: 75% refund available through March 1, 2027, and 50% refund through May 15, 2027. Transfers are not allowed due to a wait list. Deferrals are permitted if the entrant volunteers for an eight hour shift at the 2027 KBU event or at the 2027 Capes 100. Volunteers from the 2026 event and the top female and male receive a free entry.
