Kaslo Wild Ultra is a three-day trail event with single-day races and multi-day challenge options. Start/finish and race packet pick-up are located at Kaslo Bay Park.
Distances offered:
- 10 km 150 metres elevation, mix of single track and wide gravel trails, about 1.5 km road.
- 22 km 528 metres elevation, single-track riverside and forest trails, technical sections.
- 53 km 2400 metres elevation, rocky and rooty mountain terrain with alpine ridges, includes 2 km road at start and finish and 2 km old logging road. Combined options: Full Wild 85 km (three days) and Half Wild 32 km (two days).
Aid stations and safety: the Mountain Stage has five aid stations and one water station; the River Stage has two aid stations. Runners must check in at each aid station or face disqualification. The course is marked with flagging tape and arrow signs; short cutting is prohibited.
Mandatory gear for the 53 km includes a hydration pack or bottles (cupless event), rain jacket or emergency blanket, and a phone. Bear spray and a headlamp are recommended for the 53 km. Drop bags are accepted for the Mountain Stage and will be transported to Mount Buchanan and returned to the finish. Use of headphones is not allowed for safety reasons.
