Johnston Woods Trail Festival
The Johnston Woods Trail Festival is a timed trail event held at the Woodland Center in Cleveland, TN, at 298 Brymer Creek Road. Activities take place at the Woodland Center and in the field behind it, with parking at the Center and along the nearby pipeline.
The event offers multiple timed formats and a rucking division:
- 24 hour race
- 12 hour race
- 12 hour night race
- 6 hour race
- 3 hour race
- 6 hour ruck
The course uses a 4.35 mile loop through forested terrain with rolling hills and small creeks. The trail includes roots and rocks but is described as runnable, with about 300 feet of elevation gain. The lap combines a blue loop and a white loop with a parking lot between the two; the start and finish are in the field behind the Woodland Center.
A fully stocked aid station is available at the end of each lap, offering items such as potatoes, PB&J, fruit, chips, pickles, and cookies. LMNT is the electrolyte sponsor; water will also be provided. Pizza is planned around midday and hot food will be available later for longer events.
Rucking requires a weighted pack and awards a finisher patch; required dry pack weights are 30 pounds for males and 15 pounds for females.
All registered runners before the deadline are guaranteed a t-shirt. Finishers receive a slate coaster; top finishers receive custom slate awards or gift cards. Current records are 6hr 39.15 miles, 12hr 60.9 miles, and 24hr 104.4 miles. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
