Johnston Woods Trail Festival
The Johnston Woods Trail Festival is a multi-hour trail event held near Cleveland, Tennessee, at 298 Brymer Creek Road. The event raises funds for kids summer camp and community programming. Activities and event operations are centered at the Woodland Center and in the field behind it. The Woodland Center is the first building on the left when entering through the gate. Parking is available at the Center and on the pipeline just before.
The course uses two marked loops, the blue loop and the white loop, with a parking lot between them. A single lap measures 4.35 miles through forested terrain with rolling hills and small creeks. The trail includes roots and rocks but is described as runnable, with about 300 feet of elevation gain per lap. Start and finish are located in the field behind the Woodland Center.
A fully stocked aid station is located at the end of each lap and includes potatoes, PB&J, fruit, chips, pickles, cookies, water, and an electrolyte drink provided by LMNT. Pizza will be available around midday and hot food later in the day for the longer timed events.
Rucking is offered as a 6 hour option. Rucking requires a weighted pack; requirements listed are 30 pounds dry for males and 15 pounds dry for females. Each ruck finisher will receive a patch.
Prizes and finishers items include guaranteed event shirts for entrants registered before the deadline, slate coasters for all finishers, custom slate awards for top three male and female finishers, merchandise and gift cards from sponsors, and a buckle for 100 mile finishers. Current distance records listed are 6 hour 39.15 miles, 12 hour 60.9 miles, and 24 hour 104.4 miles. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
