Tejas Dirt Festival : Camp Eagle, Rocksprings, TX
Tejas Dirt Festival is a multi-discipline outdoor race day held at Camp Eagle in Rocksprings, Texas on May 9, 2026. The program includes multiple trail run distances, ruck divisions, a Trail Run Biathlon, and the King and Queen of the Hill Trail Run. Races start and finish at the Pavilion near the river; courses use riverside trails that climb into the hills and include rocky sections and scree.
The event is chip timed with ankle-mounted chips. Courses are extensively marked with caution tape, directional arrows, and confidence markers; reflective markings are used for night hours. The event follows a cupless policy for aid stations and provides aid roughly every 3 to 6 miles. Drop bag service is not provided centrally, but participants may leave personal drop bags at the Pavilion.
Ruck rules require a mandatory weigh in and a back worn ruck with nonconsumable weight: 20 lb required for participants under 150 lb and 30 lb for those over 150 lb; no trekking poles. The Trail Run Biathlon combines short running laps with target shooting using provided rifles and a safety briefing. The King and Queen of the Hill is a short out-and-back course of about 1.5 to 2 miles with a cash purse for the top male and female.
Camp Eagle offers multiple lodging options, on-site meals, and a $10 land access fee for everyone over age 3. A youth mile is offered as an untimed race and family activities are provided on site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
