Tejas Dirt Festival
The Tejas Dirt Festival is a multi-discipline outdoor sports event held at Camp Eagle in Rocksprings, Texas. This event features a variety of trail-based competitions including running, rucking, and a biathlon that combines running with target shooting. The courses consist of riverside trails and hilly sections with rock and scree, offering various vistas of the Texas Hill Country.
The event offers the following race distances and categories:
- 40 Mile Trail Run
- 20 Mile Trail Run & Ruck
- 10 Mile Trail Run
- 4 Mile Trail Run & Ruck
- Youth 1 Mile
- King & Queen of the Hill (1.5 to 2 miles)
- Trail Run Biathlon (Three 0.5-mile laps with shooting)
The Ruck Division requires participants to carry weighted packs based on body weight; individuals under 150 lbs carry 20 lbs, while those over 150 lbs carry 30 lbs. The Trail Run Biathlon involves running half-mile laps and shooting .22 rifles at still targets provided by the venue. The King & Queen of the Hill is a vertical challenge where participants run from the river to the top of a large hill and back.
The festival is a cupless event, and participants must bring their own hydration vessels. Aid stations are located every 3 to 6 miles providing water, ice, and various snacks. On-site lodging at Camp Eagle is available, ranging from tent camping and RV sites to hostel-style beds and hotel-style rooms.
