Icebox 480/240 : Whitetail Ridge, River Falls, WI
Icebox is a timed trail challenge held at Whitetail Ridge on a multi-lap single track course. Runners choose between two time-limited options and complete as many laps of a roughly 5 mile loop as they can within their allotted time. In the final hour a one mile bonus loop opens for an additional distance opportunity.
Distances offered:
- 8-hour (480 minutes) challenge
- 4-hour (240 minutes) challenge
The event uses a scheduled starting window rather than a group start to reduce congestion on the single track. Participants record their start and finish times on a public display board at the start area and are responsible for tracking their own times.
Race support details include allowance for drop bags at the start, a cupless format requiring runners to carry their own refillable container, and an aid station offering snacks and progressively heartier fare such as chicken noodle soup, quesadillas, and mashed potatoes. Pacers are not permitted; crews may assist only at aid stations or drop bag locations.
Practical notes: parking is limited to nearby streets; there is no immediate on site camping and nearby lodging options exist in the region. The organizer reserves the right to delay, suspend, or cancel the event for safety reasons; refunds or transfers are not available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
