Icebox 480/240

Icebox 480/240 is a timed trail event at Whitetail Ridge in River Falls, WI that asks participants to accumulate as many miles as possible on a single-track loop that measures roughly 5 miles per circuit. Runners choose between two timed efforts and complete repeated loops until their time ends.

Distances

  • 4 hour challenge
  • 8 hour challenge

A one mile loop (listed as 1.05 miles) is available only during the event's final hour for those who wish to add a short extra loop. Before beginning and after finishing, participants record their times on a large display board and are responsible for tracking their loop returns on that board. Drop bags may be kept at the start area for participant use.

The event is cupless; participants should bring a personal water container to refill at aid stations. The aid station supplies typical snacks and, later in the day, more substantial fare such as chicken noodle soup, quesadillas, and mashed potatoes. Portable toilets are provided at the start area. Pacers are not allowed; crews may assist only at aid stations or drop bag locations. Parking is permitted on nearby streets only and is not allowed in business lots. The race director may delay, suspend, or cancel the event for safety reasons; refunds and transfers are not allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
