Icebox 480/240 : overview
The Icebox 480/240 is a timed trail event on Saturday, November 7, 2026, held at Whitetail Ridge in River Falls, WI (800 Whitetail Blvd.). Participants may enter either a 4-hour or an 8-hour challenge that lets them accumulate as many miles as possible on repeated loops. The primary loop is roughly 5 miles per circuit. A shorter 1.05-mile loop is available to participants only when one hour remains on their allotted time.
Course and logistics
The course is single-track trail through Whitetail Ridge. The event is cupless; runners must carry a water container to refill at aid stations. A staffed aid station will provide typical snacks and, later in the day, more substantial items such as chicken noodle soup, quesadillas, and mashed potatoes. Drop bags may be kept at the start area for runner use. Portable toilets will be available at the start point.
Parking is permitted on nearby streets only; parking in business lots is not allowed. Pacers are not permitted. Crews are allowed but may only provide aid at aid stations or the drop bag area. There is no immediate on-site camping; Willow River State Park is noted for nearby camping options. The race director may delay, suspend, or cancel the event for safety reasons; refunds or transfers are not allowed if the event is canceled. The organizer states a commitment to creating an inclusive event environment. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
