Hyner Trail Challenge : Hyner, PA

The event takes place at 9650 Renovo Road in Hyner, Pennsylvania. It offers the following race distances:

• 50K
• 25K

The course is remote and has limited spectator access. The only accessible aid station for the 25K is Hyner View State Park at mile 4. Spectator access for the 50K is available at Hyner View State Park at mile 3 and Hyner Run State Park at mile 10 and mile 25. There are no parking areas on the course and mountain roads are narrow.

Registration follows strict rules: there are no refunds, no deferrals, no bib switches, no transfers, and no bandits. Contesting the rules can result in a ban from PA Trail Dogs events. In some cases the organizer may invite volunteers or prior participants from a waitlist before other entrants.

Cut-off rules are enforced at specific aid stations to ensure target finish windows. For the 25K runners must reach the View (mile 4) by 11:30am and the mile 8.5 aid station by 2pm or they will be pulled; these cut-offs are intended to ensure a 9 hour finish. For the 50K runners not at mile 7.5 by 10:30am will be directed onto the 25K course; other hard cut-offs are mile 17 by 1pm and mile 25 by 3:15pm to ensure a 10 hour finish.

The 50K requires qualifying evidence that a runner can complete roughly 31 miles within the target time; road races do not count as qualifiers. The organizer does not hire course photographers but volunteers often take photos that are shared afterward.

Bib pickup is the day before the race on April 16 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm, and the morning of the race on April 17 with separate windows for the 50K and 25K. There is no electricity or water at the site so participants are asked to fill hydration packs or bottles before arrival. An ice trailer will be located behind the registration tent.
