Hyner View Trail Challenge : April 18, 2026

The event takes place at Eagles Nest in Hyner, PA and offers two trail distances:

  • 25K
  • 50K

The 25K course includes three major climbs and three major descents with about 4,000 feet of total vertical. The route features vistas, stream crossings, and single-track trails. The 50K course includes five major climbs with about 6,500 feet of vertical. The 50K route is part of the Rocksylvania Trail Series and has course changes introduced in 2019. The 25K field is limited to the first 1,000 entrants and the 50K field is limited to the first 400 entrants. Registration opens in May.

Rules and logistics

The event enforces a strict no-refund, no-deferral, no-transfer, no-bib-switch policy. Both races use hard cut-offs: 25K runners must reach the View (mile 4) by 11:30 AM and the mile 8.5 aid station by 1:30 PM or be pulled. 50K runners must reach mile 7.5 by 10:30 AM or be directed onto the 25K course; additional 50K cut-offs are mile 17 by 1:00 PM and mile 25 by 3:15 PM. The course is remote with limited spectator parking; designated spectator access points are Hyner View State Park (mile 3 for 50K, mile 4 for 25K) and Hyner Run State Park (mile 10 and mile 25 for 50K). There is no electricity or site water, so participants should fill packs or bottles before arrival; an ice trailer is available near the registration tent. Run under the stars at Icicles on the Moon, a night trail event at Zindel Park in Lock Haven on December 27, 2025. Choose a 7 mile or 5K route around the reservoir, bring a headlamp, and help fund Zindel property revitalization.

The Frozen Snot is a winter trail race on Bald Eagle Mountain near Lock Haven PA with 8.3 and 13.5 mile courses. Expect rugged technical terrain, steep climbs, icy or muddy conditions and bring traction gear for a true cold challenge.

Fire on the Rocks 10K at Zindel Park in McElhattan PA on March 14, 2026 mixes scenic singletrack with about 1,400 feet of climbing over roughly 6.5 miles. Expect tough climbs, great views and sticky buns at the finish.

Explore rugged single track through Tiadaghton State Forest at the 8th annual Slate Run Trail Race, offering 25K and Half Marathon routes with streams and big views. Limited field of 250 so register early.
