HOST Park's Cold Start Warm Finish Family Fun Run/Walk

HOST Park’s Cold Start Warm Finish Family Fun Run/Walk is scheduled for January 10, 2026 at NELHA Beach Park, Makako Bay Drive, Kailua Kona, HI. The event offers a 5k and a 10k run/walk and a free keiki dash. The 10k field is limited to 115 athletes and the 5k field is limited to 115 athletes; registration opens October 1, 2025 and will close either when a 250-athlete total limit is reached or on January 8, 2026. Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Registered participants receive a finisher’s running hat and a 5k or 10k pin. There is a 2-hour time limit for the 10k.

Course, support and on-site activities

The course runs along Makako Bay Drive and trails beside the Pacific Ocean. The 10k is an out-and-back route with some hills; about 50% of the course is on road surfaces and the rest on gravel roads or sandy trails. Multiple aid stations will be on course and HOST Park will provide cold seawater showers and water-feature arches along the pipeline. After the finish there will be cold and warm seawater foot plunges. A Health and Wellness Expo at the Mauka Research Campus Warehouse, South Wing will feature local vendors and wellness groups. Strollers and pets are not allowed on the course. There is limited parking along Kahilihili Street. Volunteers and sponsors are being recruited.
