Winter X is a trail-running event on Sunday 28 December 2025 based at The Meon Hall, Meonstoke (Southampton SO32 3NP). The event uses public trails in the Meon Valley, including sections of the South Downs Way and some short road links. Entries opened 24 August 2025 and close 22 December 2025; the entry list showed 105 participants at the time of publication. The event is organised by Chalk & Mud Trail Running and will be held under UKA rules with a TRA permit (no. 6993 pending).

Distances and course layout

  • 10 km - North leg, flat on the old railway line to West Meon and back
  • 30 km - North and East legs; East follows South Downs Way to the Sustainability Centre
  • 50 km - North, East and West legs; West follows South Downs Way to Holden Farm via Beacon Hill
  • 70 km - Full course: North, East, West and South legs; South follows old railway line to Wickham and back

Facilities, rules and age limits

The event provides a marked course, marshal support, chip timing, event t-shirt, stocked checkpoints, post-event food and drink, and an event memento. Runners can access a central checkpoint and personal kit at Meon Hall; additional checkpoints are at Holden Farm, the Sustainability Centre and Wickham. Course markings and an up-to-date .gpx file will be available before the event. Dogs are not permitted on the route. Minimum ages: 16 for 10 km, 18 for 30 km, and 20 for 50 km and 70 km.
