Event overview

Winter X is a trail running event on Sunday 28 December 2025 at The Meon Hall, Meonstoke (Pound Ln, Southampton SO32 3NP). The event is organised by Chalk & Mud Trail Running. Entries open 24 August 2025 and close 22 December 2025. Entries so far: 163 participants. The event will be run under UKA rules and has a TRA permit pending (no. 6993). Dogs are not allowed on the course.

Entrants receive a marked course, marshal support, chip timing, an event t-shirt, fully stocked checkpoints, post-event food and drink, and an event memento. A .gpx file for the courses will be available before the event.

Course and logistics

The routes use public trails in the Meon Valley and include sections of the South Downs Way and some short road links. The full 70 km course is made of four out-and-back legs from Meonstoke named North, East, West, and South.

Distances offered:

  • 10 km - North leg, follows the old railway line to West Meon and back.
  • 30 km - North and East legs; East follows the South Downs Way to the Sustainability Centre.
  • 50 km - North, East, and West legs; West follows the South Downs Way to Holden Farm via Beacon Hill.
  • 70 km - North, East, West, and South legs; South follows the old railway line to Wickham and back to Meon Hall.

A central checkpoint at Meon Hall allows access to personal kit. Additional checkpoints are at Holden Farm, the Sustainability Centre, and Wickham. Courses will be marked with arrows, tape, flour, or flags as needed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
