Five Trails Ultra and Three Trails Half
The event is based at Westerlands in Graffham, Petworth, West Sussex, a working farm and equine centre that also offers camping and glamping. The routes start at the foot of the South Downs and use long distance trails and countryside tracks.
Distances
- 50k Five Trails Ultra
- 13 mile Three Trails Half Marathon
The Five Trails Ultra links five named long distance trails into a single loop: Serpent Trail, New Lipchis Way, West Sussex Literary Trail, South Downs Way and Monarchs Way. The route passes through woodland and heath, climbs onto open downland for wide views, includes beech woods, then returns via the Serpent Trail.
The Three Trails Half Marathon follows the Serpent Trail through woodland and heath, joins the New Lipchis Way for a climb onto the Downs, runs along the South Downs Way and then descends to Graffham before finishing on countryside tracks.
Practical details from the organiser include four well stocked checkpoints on the Ultra and one on the Half, SportIdent electronic timing, mandatory kit lists, aid stations at specific mile markers, event medical cover and a sweeper runner. Finishers receive a wooden eco medal. Parking is available on the event field and accommodation options are offered at Westerlands. Both races qualify toward the UTMB runner performance index. Entries are online only and places can be deferred before the organiser deadline. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
