The Heart of Wales Ultra Marathon (HOWUM) is a 30-mile trail running event on May 2, 2026. It is a circular route starting and finishing at the Dol Lys Camp Ground in Llanidloes, Wales.

Route Description

The route merges four long-distance trails into one: the Sarn, Glyndwr’s Way, Severn Way, and Wye Valley Walk. It passes through the Heart of Wales region, heading towards the Clywedog reservoir and reaching the source of the River Severn before returning to Llanidloes. The terrain is reported as 80% trail and 20% road. The course has an elevation gain of 4,356 feet.

Race Information

The event features two fully stocked aid stations with snacks, fresh fruit, hot and cold drinks, seating, power banks, and music. Dietary requirements can be accommodated upon sign-up. The organizers state there are no official time limits. Runners will receive a finisher's medal, post-race care, and support from the event crew.
