Llanidloes, United Kingdom • 2 May 2026

Event overview

The HOWUM 2026 is a 30-mile ultra running event in mid Wales held on 2 May 2026. The route starts and finishes in the town of Llanidloes and visits central Wales locations, including the Clywedog Reservoir and the source of the River Severn. The event is presented as a circular route that combines multiple established trails.

Route, support and logistics

The course uses a combination of the Sarn, Glyndwr’s Way, Severn Way and the Wye Valley Walk. The route progresses from Llanidloes toward Clywedog Reservoir, onto Glyndwr’s Way, to the source of the River Severn, and then returns to Llanidloes.

There are no overall time limits. Three staffed checkpoints are placed along the route; they are described as stocked with snacks, fresh fruit, hot and cold drinks, seating, power banks and music. Organisers request dietary requirements in advance to accommodate needs. Recommended kit includes appropriate footwear, a 1-litre water carrier, mobile phone, compass (phone version acceptable), headlamp or other light source for tunnels or night use, foil blanket, waterproof jacket and rucksack. Entry includes a Pegasus medal, post-race care, staffed checkpoints and event crew support. Registered participants receive a welcome email and further emails at six, four and two weeks before the event, plus a pre-event phone call a few days beforehand.
