HOWUM 30
The HOWUM 30 is a single loop trail ultramarathon based at Dol Llys Farm, Llanidloes, Powys, Wales, held on Saturday 1 May 2027. The event offers two route choices:
- HOWUM 30 full route
- HOWUM HALF shorter route joining the main course for the final eight miles or so
The course uses parts of established long distance ways, including the Severn Way, Wye Valley Walk, Cambrian Way and Glyndwr’s Way, and in 2027 loops clockwise from Dol Llys Farm. The full route crosses the Pumlumon massif and climbs Pumlumon Fawr (752 m), Pen Pumlumon Llygad-Bychan (727 m) and Pen Pumlumon Arwystli (741 m), with descents through Hafren Forest and along Glyndwr’s Way towards Llyn Clywedog Reservoir.
Terrain is approximately 90% trail and 10% road, with a total ascent around 5,675 ft. The event provides two fully stocked aid stations, a midpoint water station and a drop bag point. Mandatory kit includes trail or hiking shoes, waterproof jacket, minimum 1 litre water, charged mobile phone, GPX route on a device, head torch, survival bag, reusable cup and a pack to carry kit; further details appear in the race manual.
Entries include no cut off times, a finisher’s medal, pre and post race care, access to drop bags at midpoint, professional medical cover and support from the volunteer group known as "The Teulu". Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
