Reservoir Roundabout
Reservoir Roundabout is an annual walking or running event held across open upland terrain in and around the Elan and Claerwen Valleys, based at the Elan Valley Visitor Centre. The event offers two waymarked routes in parts; map reading skills are required. A confirmed route map and a GPX file are emailed to competitors in the week before the event.
The available distances are:
- 20 miles (3000 ft ascent)
- 12 miles (1800 ft ascent)
Participants must be at least 16 years old. Entry fees are listed as £22 for LDWA members and £25 for non members, with a £3 discount for LDWA members. Entry includes a kit check and some drinks and refreshments; signed certificates are provided to finishers. No on the day entries are accepted.
Essential equipment required includes an OS map (Landranger 147 or Explorer 200), compass, whistle, torch, first aid kit including a survival bag, waterproofs, enough food & drink for the day, warm clothing and appropriate footwear. Entrants should be physically prepared for winter hill walking.
Sections of the route pass through private farms on the event day; gates must be left as found. The organiser reserves the right to change the route because of adverse weather, forestry, farming or construction. The event is organised and staffed by volunteers and proceeds go to local charities. This is not a race and results are not published. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
