Event overview

Harmeny AC 7R Multi Terrain Half Marathon takes place on 07 December 2025 and is organised by Harmeny AC. The race is limited to 140 runners and there will be a small waiting list. The event starts and finishes at Threipmuir Farm Steading, located between Harlaw and Threipmuir Reservoirs in Balerno. Entry status for this edition is closed.

Course and safety

The multi terrain route includes smooth trails, some tarmac, rocky sections, bog and marshland, and possibly shallow water crossings. Competitors should expect rough stone trails and winter weather such as fog, rain, snow, or ice. A space blanket and a wind/waterproof jacket are mandatory; a hat and gloves are suggested. No dogs are allowed on the course. There are no distance markers; the route will be marked with signs or flags. Headphones should be removed on roads or near marshals.

Checkpoints, facilities and prizes

There is a checkpoint and water station at 8 miles at Bonaly car park; a first aider will be present and a two hour cut-off applies at this checkpoint. A water station is also provided at the finish. Hot soup and cakes will be available at the finish. Very limited toilet facilities are provided by an ECO toilet at Threipmuir Farm Steading. Bag drop is available but there are no changing or showering facilities. All finishers receive a medal and goody bag; trophies and age-category prizes are awarded.

Entry, refunds and travel

No entries are accepted on the day. Withdrawals receive a 50% refund only if made up to 31 October; after that date there are no refunds. Entries are not transferable. Race numbers are collected on race day at Harlaw Visitor Centre (post code EH14 7AS). Limited parking is available near Harlaw Reservoir with additional parking on the left side of the access road; do not park on the right hand side.
