Event overview

The Harmeny AC 7R Multi Terrain half marathon is the 14th running of the Harmeny 7 Reservoirs race. It is organised by Harmeny AC and will take place on 7 December 2025. The race starts and finishes at Threipmuir Farm Steading, located between Harlaw and Threipmuir Reservoirs in Balerno. The event is currently closed to new entries.

Entries, limits and refunds

Entries are limited to 140 runners and there is a small waiting list. No entries are accepted on the day. Entries are non-transferable. Competitors who withdraw may receive a 50% refund up until 31 October; after that date no refunds are available. Previous winners and runners who have completed the race under the stated time standards are guaranteed a place for 2025. Elite places may be offered at the race director’s discretion.

Route, safety and facilities

The multi terrain route includes smooth and rocky trails, some tarmac, bog and marshland and possible shallow water crossings. Weather can include fog, rain, snow or ice. It is mandatory to carry a space blanket and a wind/waterproof jacket; a hat and gloves are suggested. The race is not recommended for novice runners. There is a checkpoint and water station at about 8 miles (Bonaly car park) with a two hour cut-off at that checkpoint and a first aider present. Finish refreshments include water, hot soup and home baking. Limited ECO toilet facilities, bag drop and limited parking are available. Dogs are not allowed on the course.
