Hamilton Island Hilly Half Marathon

The Hamilton Island Hilly Half Marathon is a trail running event held on Hamilton Island in the Great Barrier Reef. The full length course is run on fire trails and walking tracks through the island’s undulating interior and includes significant uphill and downhill sections. The event includes a team relay option and a separate junior race program with shorter, flatter distances for children. Medal presentations and prize announcements take place at the Beach Pavilion on the day of the event.

Entry options and fees (2025 listing): general individual entry $135, team member $85 (teams of 2 or 3), junior entry $60. Minimum ages listed for the 2025 event: individuals 16 years, team competitors 14 years, juniors 4 to 15 years. Age group categories include Under 30, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60+; open relay categories include male, female and mixed. Race pack collection is compulsory and takes place at the Beach Pavilion on the day before and on event day; identification must be shown to collect a race pack. Competitors are advised to hold adequate personal medical insurance. Free ferry transfers between Shute Harbour and Hamilton Island Marina are offered to competitors, with a discounted fare for designated travel companions.
