Hamilton Island Hilly Half Marathon

The Hamilton Island Hilly Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 3 May 2026 on Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays. The event uses island trails and fire tracks through undulating interior terrain and features rugged, hilly sections with both uphill and downhill running.

Distance options include:

  • Full length individual : 24 km
  • Team relay : 2 or 3 person teams, each participant runs around 7 km
  • Junior races : 3 km, 1.5 km, 500 m

Entries close on 24 April 2026. Entry fees listed for 2026 are $135 for individual competitors, $85 per team competitor, and $60 per junior entry. Minimum ages are 16 years for individual competitors, 14 years for team competitors, and juniors must be aged 4 to 15 years.

Practical details: race pack collection is scheduled the day before and on race day at the Beach Pavilion and is compulsory; packs include a race singlet and sponsor items. A race briefing is held at the Beach Pavilion prior to the start. Course maps and elevation profiles from 2025 are available; 2026 documents are yet to be released.

Event rules note that taking shortcuts will result in disqualification and that only one earphone is permitted when using an mp3 device. Competitors are advised to hold adequate personal medical insurance; non Australians are not covered financially under the Australian Health Act.
