Gyrn Gallop

Gyrn Gallop is a fell race starting from Rhiwlas Village, Llansilin (SY10 7JH), located about 5 miles west of Oswestry on the B4580. The course covers 10.6 km (6.6 mi) with approximately 350 m (1148 ft) of climb. The route is partially marked and limited experience is required to negotiate the terrain and navigation.

The event records are noted as a men's course record of 37:50 set in 2006 and a women's course record of 49:18 set in 2005. Minimum age to take part is over 15. Entry on the day only is available for a fee of £7.

Trail runs nearby

A new 50K route from Telford Town Park to Shrewsbury that visits multiple historic Shropshire sites. The event includes chip timing, five nutrition stations, measured routes, free photos and a special series-linking segment medal.

A point to point race of about 5 miles along river paths and the canal towpath on 17 May 2026, organised by Maldwyn Harriers. The course finishes at Abermule Community Centre and includes refreshments and awards.

A short, hilly 5.3 km race in All Stretton on 20 May 2026 with registration at the Yew Tree Inn. The event includes junior races, supports local charities, and forms part of the Shropshire Summer Series.

A 6.5 km hill run from Trefonen Village Hall with 150 m of ascent, mixed farmland, woods and country lanes. The partly waymarked course includes varied underfoot conditions and a trig point on Mynydd Myfyr; entry is available on the day.
