Great Shasta Rail Trail

The Great Shasta Rail Trail event takes place near McCloud, California, with the start and finish at the trailhead in Bartle on Harris Springs Road (coordinates 41.25729, -121.82128). The course is relatively flat with firm, pleasant footing and offers views of Mt Shasta. All distances are out and back.

All distances share a 12 hour finish cutoff. There are turnaround cutoffs at the designated 50K and 30K turn points. Aid stations are provided approximately every 3 to 6 miles, with water drops used in hot years. Aid stations are stocked with HEED electrolyte drink, runner snacks, and ice to help cool down. Porta potties are available at the start/finish area and at the 50K turnaround.

Parking is available in the trailhead parking area and on nearby forest roads; participants are asked not to block traffic or the rail trail. Registered runners receive a shirt and an after-race meal, and all finishers receive a finisher medal. The event benefits the Great Shasta Rail Trail and aims to support preservation and the trail’s history. Swag deadline is June 23. Registration closes July 23.
