The Great Shasta Rail Trail run takes place in McCloud, CA on July 25, 2026. All distances share the same start and finish location at the Great Shasta Rail Trail trailhead in Bartle on Harris Springs Road (coordinates 41.25729, -121.82128). There is a 12-hour overall cutoff for each distance. The 50K includes a turnaround at about mile 12; 30K runners pass the 30K turnaround twice when running the 50K.

Logistics, aid, and policies

Packet pickup is available on race morning for all distances. Aid stations are placed roughly every 3–6 miles, with water drops in hot conditions. Aid stations are stocked with HEED electrolytes, common runner snacks, and ice. There will be porta-potties at the start/finish area and at the 50K turnaround. All finishers receive a medal; participants receive a shirt and an after-race meal. The burro race option has been removed for this event. The organizer offers a deferral policy and allows transfer of registrations before the day prior to the race. Swag deadline is June 23. Registration opens December 1, 2025. Choose from three scenic trail races near Lake Siskiyou with sweeping views of Mt. Shasta and Mt. Eddy: 52K, 34K, and 10K over single track and forest roads. Expect challenging terrain, finisher swag, and a local post race meal.
