The Great Shasta Rail Trail

The Great Shasta Rail Trail is scheduled for July 25, 2026. It is organized by Intermountain Endurance and benefits the Great Shasta Rail Trail with the goal of preserving the route and its history.

The course begins just outside McCloud and runs with views of Mt Shasta. The route is described as relatively flat with good footing and is laid out as out-and-back for all distances. Aid stations are fully stocked and placed at distance turnarounds: the 10k turnaround, the 30k and 10k turnarounds for the 30k, and three stations for the 50k at each turnaround. The event is cupless; participants are asked to use a reusable cup at aid stations.

All participants receive a shirt and an after-race meal. All finishers receive a finisher medal. The organizer notes a swag deadline of June 23. Registration opens soon.

The event is listed alongside regional attractions such as Burney Falls, Lassen National Park, Subway Cave, and local fly fishing destinations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
