Great North Walk Trail Running Festival

The Great North Walk Trail Running Festival is a dedicated trail running event that utilizes sections of the historic Great North Walk. The event offers participants three distinct course distances, each featuring significant elevation changes and utilizing natural terrain.

The event structure includes the following distances:

  • 10K: Covering an actual distance of 9.6 km with 329 meters of total ascent and descent.
  • 30K: Covering 29.2 km with 770 meters of total ascent and descent.
  • 50K: An ultra-distance course of 50.3 km with 1,485 meters of total ascent and descent.

Participants in the 30K and 50K categories can use their performance as a qualifying mark for the Six Foot Track race. To qualify, runners must complete the 30K in under 4 hours and 10 minutes, or the 50K in under 9 hours. All distances have designated cut-off times to ensure the safety and management of the field, with 4 hours for the 10K, 8 hours for the 30K, and 11 hours for the 50K.

Registration for the festival follows a tiered pricing schedule, spanning early bird, standard, late, and super late entry periods. The festival is supported by several organizations within the running and outdoor nutrition industry. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
