UTAH 115 : event overview
UTAH 115 is a high desert ultra run held in Kanab, Utah. The event includes three out-and-back races: 115 miles, 50 miles, and 50 km. The 115-mile race has a 50-hour cut-off, the 50-mile race has a 20-hour cut-off, and the 50 km has a 13-hour cut-off. Participants must be aged 18 or older; there are no specific qualification requirements, though race organizers recommend ultrarunning or through-hiking experience.
Course, support and logistics
All courses start and finish in Kanab at about 4,970 feet (1,515 meters) elevation and travel through southern Utah desert terrain. The route includes sand dunes, hard and soft sand, red rock climbs, forest trails, rocky and double-track roads, and several named features such as Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Hog Canyon, and Parunuweap Canyon. Wildlife and desert flora may be encountered along the route.
Aid stations will offer water, electrolyte drinks, daytime and night food options, hot drinks at night, and shared sleeping areas with pads and blankets; sleeping aid stations have a 3-hour sleep limit. Drop bags are allowed with a maximum size of 12 x 20 x 12 inches and one drop bag per runner per aid station location; organizers do not accept responsibility for loss or damage. On-site accommodation options include rented tents, tent spaces, and RV parking (no hook-ups). Finishers receive buckles for the 115-mile race and medals for the 50-mile and 50 km races; top male and female 115-mile finishers receive a complimentary entry to a future Grand to Grand Ultra event.
