Course and trail conditions

The course begins at Grand River Park and uses the Idema Explorers Trail to reach Grand Ravines Park. At Grand Ravines there is a covered bridge and an uphill viewpoint along the river; the 5K route turns around near this viewpoint. The 10K continues through Grand Ravines Park, passing a dog park and a meadow, crossing the Idema suspension bridge, and returning through woods to Grand River Park. Portions of the route run on paved trail: about two miles paved on the 5K and about four miles paved on the 10K. Remaining sections are dirt or grass with roots and uneven ground and can become muddy after significant rain. The 10K course includes some steps.
