Grand Explorers' Trail Race
The Grand Explorers' Trail Race is the 4th annual trail event linking Grand River Park and Grand Ravines Park via the Idema Explorers Trail in Ottawa County. The race is scheduled for June 20, 2026 and is organized to support Ottawa County parks and projects funded by the Ottawa County Parks Foundation.
Distances offered
- 10K
- 5K
- 1 Mile kids fun run
The course begins at Grand River Park on the Idema Explorers Trail and follows the Grand River to Grand Ravines Park. At Grand Ravines participants pass a covered bridge and climb a short incline to a river viewpoint where bald eagles may be visible. 5K participants turn around at that viewpoint. 10K participants continue through Grand Ravines Park around the dog park, through a meadow, across the Idema suspension bridge, and return through woods to Grand River Park. The 10K includes some steps.
Trail conditions vary by surface. A significant portion along the river is paved : roughly two miles paved for the 5K and about four miles paved for the 10K. The remainder is dirt or grass with roots and uneven ground and may become muddy after substantial rain. Walkers and dogs are welcome. The event highlights local park projects and the foundation mission "Bridging Community to Nature". Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
