Golden State Trail Run : Fort Ord National Monument, Monterey, CA (June 20, 2026)

The Golden State Trail Run offers four trail distances through Fort Ord National Monument, showcasing maritime chaparral, grasslands, marshes, and fields of wildflowers. Courses emphasize single-track and fire roads with varied footing including sandy hills and rolling terrain. Most of the routes are non-technical dirt trails; hiking poles are permitted.

Distances and elevation:

  • 50K (31.0 miles, 3,450 ft elevation gain)
  • 35K (22.9 miles, 2,750 ft elevation gain)
  • Half Marathon (13.1 miles, 1,450 ft elevation gain)
  • 10K (6.4 miles, 460 ft elevation gain)

Logistics include a total capacity of 350 runners and professional chip timing with disposable chips attached to bibs. The 50K and 35K have a 9 hour time limit; all participants must be off course by 4:30 PM. The event is cupless; runners must carry their own bottle or reusable cup (reusable cups sold at the event). Aid stations offer gels, snacks, electrolytes, salty foods, drinks, and basic first aid; runners are encouraged to carry at least one 20 oz bottle. Parking is available at the Fort Ord Day Camp adjacent to the start/finish area; carpooling is encouraged and parking outside the Day Camp or in East Garrison is not permitted.

Check-in options include early pickup Friday, June 19 (3:00 PM – 7:00 PM) at Fleet Feet Monterey, 472 Alvarado St., Monterey, CA, and race-morning check-in at Fort Ord Day Camp. Dogs are allowed on leash and must start at the back of the pack. Race shirts use a tri-blend performance fabric; to guarantee a size register by June 6, 2026.
