Goatfell Race

The Goatfell Race is scheduled for 16 May 2026 at Ormidale Pavilion in Brodick on the Isle of Arran. The route is 15.5 km with approximately 870 m of ascent. The course follows the main road north to Brodick Castle drive, then climbs to the summit of Goat Fell via the standard tourist path and returns the same way to the finish at Ormidale Pavilion.

First aid cover is provided at the start and finish and the hill section is supported by Arran Mountain Rescue. Public liability cover is provided by Scottish Hill Runners and competitors must follow Scottish Hill Runners safety rules. Mandatory kit requirements include a full body waterproof cover, hat, gloves and a whistle. Carrying a mechanical compass and map and the ability to navigate may be imposed in poor weather.

Competitors must be at least 18 years old on the day. Entry is limited to 200 online entries and on the day entries may be accepted only at the organiser's discretion in the event of known late cancellations or if the entry limit has not been reached. The published entry fee is £16. Entry refunds, less applicable SiEntries fees, are possible until 29 April and thereafter at the organiser's discretion.

Facilities at Ormidale Pavilion include changing rooms, toilets and storage for personal possessions. In exceptionally poor weather a shorter route may be used or the event cancelled. A hill race on 15 April 2026 covering 5.7 km with 380 m of ascent across Fairlie Glen and the summit plateau. Entries are limited to 150, and prizegiving with a hot drink and cake is held at Fairlie Parish Church.
