Furbutt's Backyard 24 Hour

Furbutt's Backyard 24 Hour is a distance event held at the Mustang Trailhead. The event follows the traditional backyard ultra format where participants must complete a 4.167-mile loop every hour. Runners who are not in the starting corral at the beginning of the next hour are disqualified from the competition. This structure continues for a total duration of 24 hours.

The course begins on a flat, open grassy field for the first 0.7 miles. The terrain then transitions into a combination of dirt and crushed gravel bridle trails. While the route is mostly flat, there are gentle inclines and declines, resulting in a total elevation gain of 300-350 feet per loop.

Available participation options include:

  • 24 Hour Backyard Ultra
  • 12 Hour "After Dark" Run

The event capacity is limited to 100 runners. The start and finish area is located under a large horse trailer pavilion, providing a central location for participants to store personal gear. This area serves as the only aid station on the course. While the organizers provide water, ice, Gatorade, and snacks, runners are responsible for bringing any specific food or supplies they require.

Crews are permitted to assist runners at the aid station, but they are not allowed on other sections of the course. Parking is situated in a grass field behind the horse pavilion in close proximity to the starting corral. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
