Frosty Mountain Ultra - event description
The Frosty Mountain Ultra takes place on Saturday September 12, 2026 in Manning Provincial Park with start and finish at the Lightning Lake day use area. Routes ascend to Frosty Mountain and pass alpine meadows, forested single track and rocky sections with extensive views.
Distances offered:
- 13 km around Lightning Lake and along Flash Lake, elevation gain 185 m.
- 27 km to Frosty Mountain summit and back to Lightning Lake, elevation gain 1300 m.
- 50 km via Similkameen Trail, Windy Joe, Frosty Mountain, Skyline and Strawberry Flats, elevation gain 2400 m.
Aid at stations is limited due to the remote location; available items include water, pop, energy gels and bars, candy, chips and fresh fruit. Key aid stations for longer routes include Tom's Bench and Strawberry Flats; runners should carry sufficient water and nutrition between stations.
Mandatory gear is checked for the 27 km and 50 km races. Required items include a working headlamp, emergency survival blanket, whistle, at least 400 calories of reserved emergency food, waterproof jacket, insulating long sleeve layer and gloves. Packet pickup is scheduled on pre-race days and on race morning; mandatory check in is required.
