Both courses are point to point and are described as mostly singletrack on the Florida Trail, with technical, winding sections. Both finish at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park.

All participants must carry a 1 lb unengraved railroad spike for the entire race. Finishers of the 74-mile race surrender that spike to a wooden coffin and receive an engraved spike; 37-mile finishers receive a medal. The top 100 finishers of the 74-mile race gain early registration access for the Georgia Death Race. Course maps, aid station breakdowns, and cutoff details are provided by the organizer.
