Feel The Burns

Feel The Burns is a hill running event scheduled for 18 January 2026. The race is organised under Scottish Hill Runners rules and covers approximately 13.7 miles with about 800 m of ascent. Course waymarking includes flagged sections and marshals positioned at checkpoints and along the route.

The route has five official checkpoints with approximate mile markers: Peat Law Hill (about 2 miles), Three Brethren (about 3.5 miles), Brownknowe Hill (about 7 miles), Broadmeadows Farm with a water station (about 9 miles), and Foulshiels Hill (about 11 miles). Competitors are responsible for ensuring they are recorded at all checkpoints. The finish is at Corby Lynne Field.

Entries are by EntryCentral only, with a published entry fee of £15 until 16 January 2026. The event has a total of 350 places and is currently on a waiting list. Changing facilities and toilets are available at Selkirk Rugby Club, which is the race base for registration, briefing and post-race arrangements. Food and drinks will be provided at the rugby club and there will be a prizegiving; participants are asked to bring their own mug for hot drinks.

A full emergency kit is mandatory for every runner and will be checked at the start. Required items include wind and waterproof full body cover, hat and gloves, a map of the route, compass, whistle and emergency food. Hill rescue cover and first aid are provided by Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team. The event sets an age minimum of 18 years and may be postponed or shortened for severe weather. Turnhouse Hill Race is a hill running event in the Pentland Hills near Flotterstone. The senior course is about 5.2 km with steep ascent and descent, and the junior course is about 2.2 km and free to enter.
