Wagon Wheel Freedom Run/Walk
The Wagon Wheel Freedom Run/Walk is a 5K run, walk, or stroll held on-site at the All Veterans Memorial in Emporia, Kansas and offered as a virtual event. The on-site event takes place at All Veterans Memorial, 931 S Commercial St, Emporia, KS, and the 2026 event date is November 7. Registration opens July 1. The virtual participation window runs from September 11 through November 11. The event is held annually in November.
The on-site 5K route begins and ends at the All Veterans Memorial and travels through the Flint Hills. Routes are planned to be completely on gravel, weather permitting. On-site awards are limited to in-person participants. Overall top three male and top three female finishers receive custom trophies. Top three male and top three female finishers in each age group receive Emporia Main Street gift certificates. Age categories are 12 and under, 13 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 and over.
Virtual participants choose their own 5K route within the event window. All finishers receive event swag bags and are eligible for the same custom trophies or Emporia Main Street gift certificates. Virtual finishers submit time and photos to the organizers for verification; local finishers may pick up swag in Emporia while others receive swag by mail.
