Emerald City Trail Series
The Emerald City Trail Series is a five-week trail race series hosted by Big Timber Running Club at Mt Pisgah Trailhead within the Howard Buford Recreational Area and Mt. Pisgah Arboretum in Eugene, Oregon. The series takes place on Thursdays: May 21, May 28, June 4, June 11, and June 18.
- May 21 - 4.7 mi, 1300 ft ascent
- May 28 - 3.4 mi
- June 4 - 8 mi, 2000 ft ascent
- June 11 - 3.7 mi
- June 18 - 3 mi, 750 ft ascent
Course descriptions note varied terrain and views. Several routes reach summit viewpoints with vistas of the Cascade Mountains, Spencer Butte, and nearby towns. Trails used include numbered singletrack such as trails 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 17 and the North Boundary Trail, with segments of prairie, rocky climbs, river-bottom sections, gravel descent, and shaded steep grades.
Logistics and facilities are specified. Parking is not allowed at the North or West Trailhead; participants must park on the road past the North Trailhead near the Horse Arena and display a $5 Passport Parking permit (zone 97306) or an annual Lane County Parks permit. The event is cupless with water available to fill bottles before and after races. Restrooms will be open. Courses are marked with yellow cones and small flags, and trails remain open to the public. Raffle prizes are offered weekly and a post-series awards party and raffle take place after the final race.
