Emerald City Trail Series

The Emerald City Trail Series is a five week trail race series held in the Howard Buford Recreational Area and Mt. Pisgah Arboretum in Eugene, Oregon, hosted by Big Timber Running Club. Events are scheduled on Thursdays across late May and June and use a variety of marked singletrack and gravel trails around Mt. Pisgah.

Courses and notable features:

  • May 21: 4.7 miles, 1300 ft ascent
  • May 28: 3.4 miles, river and bottomlands sections
  • June 4: 8 miles, 2000 ft ascent, reaches the true summit
  • June 11: 3.7 miles, flat out-and-back along river trails
  • June 18: 3 miles, 750 ft ascent with summit climb

Participants must have a parking permit for Buford Park Road parking; options include a $5 Passport Parking permit (zone 97306) or an annual Lane County Parks Permit. Donating at least $50 to Friends of Buford and Mt. Pisgah provides an annual Lane County Parking Permit.

The series is cupless; water is available to fill personal bottles before and after races. Courses are marked with cones and flags and remain open to other park users. Weekly raffle prizes are offered and a post series gathering on the final day includes awards and additional raffle prizes.
