About the race
The Elephant Trail Race is a multi‑distance trail running event held in Port Macquarie, NSW from 16 to 18 July 2027. The event offers a range of course lengths and formats, including multi‑loop ultra races, staged multi‑day events, shorter trail races, and a kids race.
Distances on offer:
- 217 km Ultra (8 laps, 27 km loop)
- 160 km Ultra (6 laps, 27 km loop)
- 100 km Solo (4 laps, 27 km loop)
- 100 km Stage (3 days, 25 km loop)
- 75 km Stage (2 days, 25 km loop)
- 50 km (2 laps, 25 km loop)
- 25 km (1 lap, 25 km loop)
- 13 km (shorter different loop)
- 2.5 km Kids race
Course characteristics include steep climbs, technical terrain, and looped sections with a directional change every two laps for many distances. Some ultra distances include a 27 km Full Loop known as Death Valley.
Support is provided on course and at the main race hub. Checkpoints offer water, coke, electrolytes, and a self‑serve food buffet; volunteers refill bottles and provide hygiene measures. The finish hub includes a food truck, coffee and drinks for purchase, a staffed medical tent, space for support crews and spectators, and distribution of finisher buckles or medals. The race is solo only; audio devices are banned on course for safety. Mandatory and weather dependent gear requirements are specified for entrants.
