Elephant Rock Trail Run
Elephant Rock Trail Run is a set of trail races held in Mueller Park above Bountiful, Utah. The event offers multiple distances over single track and fire roads, with varied terrain through Holbrook Canyon, The Great Western, Sessions Mountains, Mill Creek, Kenney Creek, North Canyon, Rudy’s Flat, and the Elephant Rock area.
Distances include:
- 50K
- 26.8 Miler
- 13.8 Miler
- 7 Miler
The 50K is a point to point route reported to include about 8,600 feet of total climb, with roughly 6,084 feet occurring in the first 15.5 miles. That early section normally has only two limited aid stations and participants are expected to carry at least two liters of water while climbing. An alternate 50K course may be used depending on trail and weather conditions; the alternate removes the Mill Creek to Kenney Creek segment and uses an out and back plus a 16.3 mile loop at Mueller Park.
Mueller Park courses include approximately 2,516 feet of elevation gain for the loop course. Course surfaces are mainly dirt trails (about 80%), dirt roads (about 19%), and a small paved section at the start and finish. Time cut-offs are enforced; the 50K carries a 13 hour limit and other distances have an eight hour limit.
The event is sanctioned by USA Track and Field. No routine refunds or transfers are offered; limited one-year deferments are permitted with documented medical reason submitted at least one month before the race. Volunteers who complete full or half shifts receive entry credits or discounts for subsequent participation. All finishers receive a handcrafted medal and top male and female finishers for each distance receive a special award. Awards are provided while supplies last and may be mailed if necessary.
