Elephant Rock Trail Run
The Elephant Rock Trail Run is held in Mueller Park above Bountiful, Utah. The event features four trail race distances and uses singletrack and fire roads through Holbrook Canyon, the Great Western, Sessions Mountains, Mill Creek, Kenney Creek, North Canyon, Rudy's Flat, and Elephant Rock.
Distances
- 50K
- 26.8 Miler
- 13.8 Miler
- 7 Miler
The 50K is a point to point mountain course that typically includes about 8,600 feet of total climb, with roughly 6,084 feet of climb in the first 15.5 miles. That initial section has only two limited aid stations, and participants are expected to carry at least 2 liters of water for the climb. An alternate 50K course may be used depending on trail or weather conditions; the alternate removes the Mill Creek to Kenney Creek connector and uses an out and back of about 15.5 miles before finishing on the 16.3 mile Mueller Park loop.
Mueller Park loop courses have about 2,516 feet of elevation gain and are primarily on trails. Overall surface composition for the event is approximately 80% dirt trail, 19% dirt road, and 1% paved at the start and finish. Trails are marked for the event, and the organizers work with land managers on route safety and access.
Finishers of all distances receive a handcrafted medal. Top male and top female of each distance receive special awards. There are no age group awards and no guaranteed second or third place prizes. Volunteer shifts earn race credit toward future entry and include finish line food and swag when applicable.
Event permits and operations follow local and state public health and safety guidance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
