Elephant Rock Trail Run
The Elephant Rock Trail Run is a set of trail races held in and around Mueller Park near Bountiful, Utah. The event features multiple trail distances that use singletrack and dirt roads through Holbrook Canyon, The Great Western, Sessions Mountains, Mill Creek, Kenney Creek, North Canyon, Rudy’s Flat, and the Mueller Park trailhead.
Distances include:
- 50K
- 26.8 Miler
- 13.8 Miler
- 7 Miler
The 50K uses a point-to-point layout with significant elevation gain reported at about 8,600 feet overall and roughly 6,084 feet in the first 15.5 miles. The organizers note limited aid support in the first section and recommend runners carry at least two liters of water for that segment. Course surfaces are mostly dirt trails (about 80%), with dirt roads (19%) and a small paved portion (1%). Trail marking is provided.
An alternate 50K course may be used depending on trail conditions and weather; the alternate removes the Mill Creek to Kenney Creek connector and adds an out-and-back section plus the Mueller Park loop. The Mueller Park loop and other shorter courses show about 2,516 feet of elevation change.
The event is sanctioned by USA Track & Field. Entry and refund policies are restrictive: no standard refunds, transfers, or rollovers; a one-year deferment may be allowed with documented medical justification submitted one month before race day. Course maps and GPX files are available on request. Volunteers who complete a full shift receive complimentary entry for the following year; half shifts receive a reduced fee. All finishers receive a handcrafted medal; top male and female in each distance receive special awards while supplies last. The race follows current public health and outdoor recreation guidance.
