Elephant Rock Trail Run
The Elephant Rock Trail Run takes place in Mueller Park near Bountiful, Utah, at 2083 Mueller Park Rd. The event offers multiple trail distances that use single track and dirt roads across the Wasatch Mountains and Mueller Park.
- 50K
- 26.8 Miler
- 13.8 Miler
- 7 Miler
The 50K is a point to point mountain course that crosses Holbrook Canyon Trail, The Great Western, Sessions Pass, Mill Creek, Kenney Creek, North Canyon Trail, Rudy’s Flat, and finishes at Mueller Park. Organizers note an alternate 50K course may be used if trail conditions require it; the alternate removes the Mill Creek to Kenney Creek connector and uses an out and back section plus the 16.3 mile loop at Mueller Park. The first 15.5 mile section of the 50K contains the majority of the climb and has two limited aid stations; runners are advised to plan for carrying significant water.
Course composition at the Mueller Park sections is about 80 percent dirt trail, 19 percent dirt road, and 1 percent paved surface. Reported elevation figures include roughly 8,600 feet of climb on the 50K with about 6,084 feet in the first 15.5 miles, and about 2,516 feet of gain and loss on the Mueller Park loop.
The event is sanctioned by USA Track and Field. Cutoff rules apply: the 50K has a 13 hour cutoff and the shorter distances have an eight hour cutoff; finishers outside cutoff receive an award but no official time. Course maps and GPX files are available upon request. Volunteer shifts can earn race credit or reduced entry for a future year. All finishers receive a handcrafted medal and top male and female finishers for each distance receive special awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
