Echo Valley
Echo Valley is a two day trail running event in the Lake Chelan wine country. The site features runnable single track through ponderosa pine forests, open views toward Lake Chelan, and fields of lupine and balsam root. Camping at the Echo Valley Ski Area is available on-site and hotels and nightly rentals are 15 to 20 minutes away in Chelan and Manson.
Available distances
- 1 mile kids race, half dirt road and grassy trail, small elevation gain
- 10K 1200' elevation gain
- Half marathon 2000' elevation gain
- 50K 3900' elevation gain; Saturday only; drop bags transported to the Yurt Aid Station
All distances are a single loop beginning near the Echo Valley ski area. The route includes a long sustained climb from the base, then rolling single track with extended views of the Chelan Valley; the 10K descends on Bergman Gulch Trail while the half and 50K continue through the pine forest and finish with a final descent called Waterbar Heaven.
The event is cupless. All runners must carry a refillable container; a minimum of 20 oz of water is strongly encouraged. Aid stations are located at: 10K 3.5 miles; half 5.4 and 10.5 miles; 50K 6.5, 8.5, 10, 13, 22.7 and 26.5 miles. Trails remain open to other users during the event, including pedestrians and cyclists.
On-site camping is managed by Echo Valley Ski Area. Camping fees are $25 per tent per night and $50 per RV per night. RVs over 24 feet and bump outs are not allowed and RV spaces are limited to ten. Fires are restricted to shared pits if conditions allow. Parking and waste containers are provided.
Online registration closes the Thursday before the race at noon. A multi race discount applies when one person registers for any two adult races in a single transaction; a 15% discount is applied to the most expensive race in that transaction. Youth and senior discounts of 15% apply to participants 22 and under or 65 and over with a completed form. A Trail Mix Fund is available for those who need financial assistance.
Post race food includes pulled pork sandwiches or veggie burgers served hot. Every finisher receives a piece of handmade finisher swag produced with solar power in Anacortes. The event supports the Washington Trails Association and offers environmental measures such as cupless racing and an option to purchase a tree instead of a race tee.
