East Texas Ultra

The East Texas Ultra is a trail running event held at Mineola Nature Preserve in the piney woods of East Texas. The event offers multiple distances run on a 4.5 mile loop that begins and ends at the Mineola Nature Preserve Pavilion.

The course uses a mix of gravel, dirt and pavement and follows the Navajo, Greer Hill, Sendera and Rawhide trails. Each loop includes about 200 feet of elevation gain. Historic average temperatures for the date range between about 59 and 80 degrees.

Aid is provided on course with a main aid station at mile 0 and 4.5 and a water station at mile 2.2. Aid station offerings include hot and cold foods, snacks, water, electrolytes, pickle juice and ice. A water carrying system is required for all events except the 7K; 16 ounce hydration is recommended. The 7K ruck requires a minimum carried weight of 25 pounds and a 16 ounce minimum for hydration.

The event provides primitive camping options nearby and local hotel options within a short drive of the preserve. Finisher medals, race shirts and awards are listed by distance, and select finishers qualify for a later championship event in the Texas Ultra Series. A night trail race at Tyler State Park on July 18, 2026, offering distances from 5K to 50K plus a 13K ruck. Single track pinewood trails, required headlamp and water carrying, with aid stations on a short loop.

Trail races through dense East Texas pine forest at Tyler State Park, offered in 5k, 10k, 25k and 50k. Single-track, technical trails are marked and supported by aid stations with refill service and basic first aid.

A 24 hour challenge at Tyler State Park where runners complete ten 5k loops over a full day and night. The course runs on dirt trails with rocks, roots and possible mud, and tent camping is available at the Blackjack area.

A continuous loop 3.1 mile trail ultra at Tyler State Park on November 14, 2026 offering 40 and 50 mile options with a 12 hour cutoff, fully stocked aid each lap and a central staging area for crew and supplies.
