Delaware Trail Fest
Delaware Trail Fest is a trail running event at Lums Pond State Park in Bear, Delaware, held on trails accessible from Buck Jersey Road. The event uses the park’s lake loop and nearby single track, and applies an age grading formula so results compare across ages and genders.
Distances offered:
- 12 Hour Lone Wolf: run laps for 12 hours; lap approx 7.35 miles.
- 12 Hour 4 Person Relay: team alternates runners, total laps within 12 hours.
- 24 KM: two laps around the lake.
- 12 KM: one lap around the lake.
The course is roughly 70% single track, 10% gravel, and 20% wider trails, with generally little elevation and some rolling sections. The Swamp Forest Trail (yellow) will be used; small adjustments may be made to avoid wet sections.
Aid stations are spaced about 3 to 4 miles apart with a main aid station at the start/finish and a secondary station near mile 4. Water and Gatorade will be available and typical trail food will be provided; runners are advised to carry a bottle and bring any specialized gels they require.
The event is chip timed. Bibs must be worn on the front and kept visible; do not fold the bib. Bib and swag pickup occurs only on race day. All participants receive a sweatshirt; 12 km and 24 km finishers receive a custom finisher hat. The 12 hour solo division includes milestone awards for specific distances. Special awards are planned for top overall and age/gender adjusted placements and relay teams.
Registration closes Oct 13. Entry fees vary by distance and may increase later; online processing fees may be added. Refunds are processed up to 30 days before the event and are the entry fee minus $10; no refunds within 30 days. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
