Darkwood Demon

The Darkwood Demon takes place on Sunday 13th September 2026 in the Colne Valley near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. The event is organised by Slaithwaite Striders RC and is based at Zapato Brewery in Marsden.

The course is a single lap of 6.0 miles (9.7 km) with approximately 990 feet 300 metres of ascent. Terrain includes towpath, bridleway, moorland, bogs, woodland and road. The route is marshalled and waymarked so navigation is not required. Surface composition is about 85 percent trail and 15 percent road. Trail shoes are strongly recommended and there are no kit requirements listed.

Entry is limited to 250 places and the minimum age for entrants is 16. The event will be held under UK Athletics rules. Entry fees at the time of listing were £8 for affiliated runners and £10 for unaffiliated runners with the possibility of on the day entry for an additional £1. Trophies are inscribed for first place male and first place female, with prizes for the top three male and top three female plus age category prizes. Course records are listed as Male 36:58 and Female 47:56.

Take on the Ossy Moors Fell Race in Oswaldtwistle on Wednesday 15 April 2026. This lively 5 mile fell course with about 300 m of climb weaves Bowland trails and offers on the day entry for a friendly competitive vibe.

Herod Farm Fell Race is a classic mid-week fell run. The course covers 3 miles with 1,100ft of ascent. Race HQ at Jubilee House offers parking, toilets, and post-race refreshments.

A social 10k trail run from Kickback Coffee in Bollington with free coffee on arrival, stiles and steady climbs, panoramic views, and dogs welcome though leads may be required through fields.

A 230 km Pennine Bridleway trail challenge to be completed within 75 hours, crossing Peak District and Yorkshire moors to finish in Cumbria. Indoor checkpoints provide hot meals, sleeping space and water support.
