Darkwood Demon

Darkwood Demon is a single-lap trail race in the Colne Valley near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, held on Sunday 13th September 2026. The course covers 6.0 miles (about 9.7 km) with approximately 990 feet / 300 metres of ascent and a mix of surfaces: towpath, bridleway, moorland, bogs, woodland and road. The route includes a climb up Slaithwaite Moor to Cupwith followed by a fast descent to the finish at Zapato Brewery.

The course is 85% trail and 15% road, fully marshalled and waymarked so navigation is not required. There are no kit requirements, but trail shoes are strongly recommended. The event is organised by Slaithwaite Striders RC and will be held under UK Athletics rules.

Entry is limited to 250 places. Entry fees are listed as £8.00 for affiliated runners and £10.00 for unaffiliated runners; entry on the day may be available for an extra £1 if the event has not sold out. Minimum age for entrants is 16. Race licence status is pending and the event is not suitable for wheelchairs.

Facilities at Race HQ, Zapato Brewery, include free on-site parking, toilets and water. There are no changing facilities, showers, baggage storage or distance markers. Stanhill Fell Race in Oswaldtwistle covers 4.5 mile from the Britannia Tap & Grill. It is Race 5 of the Accrington Fell & Trail Series and entry on the day costs £6.

A 3 km or 5 km run at Bowdon Rugby Club with drinking stations every kilometre and a mix of inflatable and non inflatable obstacles. Drinks are included and only participants aged 18 or over may take part.

Scenic 5K, 10K and half marathon options in Bingley organised by Its Grim Up North Running, with finishers receiving a jumble medal plus hot food and a drink. Online places have sold out but places on the day are available.

Three trail routes start at Bakewell Showground and explore varied Peak District terrain including moors, valleys and parts of the Pennine Way. The Half Marathon route includes outposts and does not allow dogs.
