Dana Peak Trail Run

Dana Peak Trail Run takes place at Dana Peak Park on the north shore of Stillhouse Hollow Lake in Harker Heights, Texas. The course follows rocky shoreline terrain with climbs and descents; much of the trail runs through trees while some sections are exposed, offering lake views from several peaks. Each distance follows a single loop with limited repeats.

Distances

  • 10K Run : single loop (listed as ≈7 miles)
  • 20K Run : single loop, ≈1530 ft ascent/descent
  • 50K Run : single loop, ≈3354 ft ascent/descent
  • 100K Run : two 50K loops, ≈6708 ft total ascent/descent

Aid stations and support are provided on the 50K and 100K courses with six stops per loop; most intervals are 3–5 miles but one segment is about 7 miles. The Lost-n-Found aid station is remote and will have limited supplies. This event is cupless; a reusable collapsible cup is available for purchase at packet pick-up. All runners must carry a hydration device. Crew access is allowed at Comanche Gap and Stillhouse Hollow; Stillhouse Hollow requires a crew code from the race director.

Only 100K runners may use a pacer, and only during the second loop. One drop bag location is available for 50K and 100K at Stillhouse Hollow; drop bags must be marked and delivered to the designated area before race morning. Tent and car camping are allowed on Friday and Saturday nights at the park; RV camping options are recommended offsite when the park is closed to RVs.

Awards include finisher medals for 10K, 20K and 50K, and a finisher buckle for the 100K. Prizes are awarded to top overall and masters finishers as specified. To guarantee a race shirt in a preferred size, registration must be completed before September 22. Cancellation policy provides race credit on a sliding scale depending on notice; transfers are allowed up to two weeks before the race with an administration fee, and credits generally expire after one year unless arrangements are made for medical or deployment reasons.
