Dam Yeti 50 and 55K
Dam Yeti is an annual trail running event held on the Virginia Creeper Trail in early June. The course uses crushed gravel rails-to-trails surface and passes scenic trestles, quiet farms, and small streams. The 50-mile course is USATF certified (VA19002MS).
Distances include:
- 55K follows the Virginia Creeper Trail from Trestle #1 to Sweetbay Brewing Co.
- 50 Mile USATF certified course VA19002MS on crushed gravel rails-to-trails.
- Pepsi Challenge 25K held the following day with its own finish location.
Logistics note key rules and services. The event is cupless; runners must carry a hydration pack or bottle and a reusable cup. Mandatory equipment includes a hydration pack or bottle (16 oz minimum) and at least 500 calories of fuel. Drop bags are collected at packet pickup for the 50-mile race and placed at Damascus. Pacers are allowed for the 50-mile race from specific trailheads. Crew support is permitted at Damascus, Alvarado, Watagua, and the finish.
Aid stations are located at Taylors Valley, Damascus, Alvarado, Watagua, and the finish. Race timing is provided by a professional chip-timing service. Finishers receive a custom Yeti medal, and there is a special award for participants who complete both weekend races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
