Dashing thru Damascus
The inaugural Dashing thru Damascus is a rail-trail running event in Damascus, Virginia, presented by Trail Town Fitness and scheduled for December 5, 2026. The event pairs trail running with an optional Polar Plunge and sauna session at the Trail Town Fitness building for post-race recovery.
The race uses part of the Creeper Trail, a crushed-limestone rail trail noted in the event materials. Course notes mention easy rail-trail sections, some sidewalk, one road crossing, and gravel segments that are generally approachable. The half marathon route is described as faster trail sections and may include snow or ice in winter conditions; aid stations will provide water and gels.
Distances include:
- 5K: easy rail trail, some sidewalk, one road crossing
- Half Marathon: faster rail-trail sections with aid stations
- Polar Plunge & Sauna: optional recovery at Trail Town Fitness
The event is presented as part of a weekend of community activities in Damascus. The program materials list a holiday parade with a parade float contest and a holiday dog costume contest, and a Christmas market at the Damascus Old Mill Inn on the event day. Race policies state that participants agree to Trail Town Fitness rules and safety requirements; policies cover registration, transfers, refunds, conduct, minors, and race-day procedures and are provided by the organizer.
