Crazy Mountain 100
The Crazy Mountain 100 is a 100 mile trail race held July 24-25, 2026, running from Wilsall, Montana to Lennep, Montana. The start is hosted at the Westling Ranch in Wilsall and the finish is hosted at the Berg Ranch in Lennep. Both host ranches are family owned cattle operations that provide land access for the event and represent multigenerational ranching on the valley.
The course navigates Indigenous Apsaalooke lands, private property, and public forest service land. The mountain range is noted by the Indigenous name Awaxaawippíia, with "Awaxaawi" meaning Mountain and "ppíia" meaning ominous or angry. Terrain along the route includes jagged cliffs, scree fields, and high alpine lakes. Some trails used by the race are on national forest land and operate under special permit by the US Forest Service.
The event is described as intentionally inclusive and welcomes people willing to take on the route. Registration opens December 14 at 6:00am MST. Live tracking is provided for the race. The presentation emphasizes access to and stewardship of private lands and the cultural significance of the mountain range. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
