Event Overview
The Crazy Mountain 100 is a 100-mile ultramarathon held in July in Montana. It is a qualifier for the Hardrock 100 and Western States 100. The start line is in Wilsall, and the finish is near the ghost town of Lennep. The point-to-point course has approximately 23,000 feet of elevation gain, reaching heights of 10,200 feet. Entry is capped at 200 runners.
Course Details
The route primarily uses single track trail. It also features sections with no trail, two-track, and occasional forest service roads. The terrain includes technical descents, ascents, scree fields, and jagged cliffs. The course traverses the Crazy Mountain Range, which is known as Awaxaawippíia to the Apsáalooke people. It passes through private land, public land, and lands of the Apsáalooke, including multiple family-owned cattle ranches that host the start, finish, and aid stations.
