Course and access

The course totals about 23,000 feet of vertical gain and reaches roughly 10,200 feet in elevation. It is primarily single track and point-to-point, with long sections that have no trail, two-track, and occasional forest service road. Runners should expect technical ascents and descents, scree fields, steep climbs and drops, and exposed terrain. The route crosses private ranchlands and public forest service land and passes through Indigenous lands of the Apsaalooke, known as Awaxaawippíia (Awaxaawi meaning mountain; ppíia meaning ominous or angry). Two family-owned ranches host the start and finish, and two additional private ranches are used along the route, including one that hosts the Huntin Camp aid station. The race director is a local cattle rancher with experience in ultrarunning and race support. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
