Coz's Backyard Ultra

Coz's Backyard Ultra is a loop based ultramarathon held at Trenton Fish and Game Club in Holland Patent, New York. The event follows the Backyard Ultra format: runners complete a 3 1/3 mile trail loop every hour and must begin each new loop on time. The scheduled limit for the event is 30 hours and the competition continues until one runner remains. If multiple runners complete the 30 hour period, the runner who crosses the line first on the final lap is the winner. Organizers may allow the final runner to continue toward 100 miles.

The course uses non technical hiking and ski trails through pines and open hardwoods. It is primarily rolling double track with an out and back dirt road section. Each lap includes about 200 feet of total ascent.

Each participant is allocated a personal 12 foot by 12 foot area near the starting line. A runner only aid station table will offer simple items such as water, electrolyte drink, fruit, candy, chips, pickles, and coffee. A communal aid table is encouraged and pizza will be provided in the evening for participants still on the course. Some cups will be provided; bringing a personal cup is suggested to reduce waste.

Entry fee is $120. Milestone awards will recognize participants who reach common ultradistance marks with a patch. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
