Chase the Moon - Endurance Run

Chase the Moon is an overnight fixed time trail event held in the Highlands Ranch Backcountry trail system near Mountain Vista High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. The event uses marked loop courses on mostly dirt trails and runs through the night under the light of the full moon. The event has a 12 hour time limit for the main division.

The course features rolling terrain with mostly dirt surfaces, minimal technical difficulty, and wide open views. The primary loop is approximately 10.3 miles with about 870 feet of elevation gain per lap; a shorter loop of approximately 5.3 miles with about 420 feet of gain is used for the five person relay. Headlamps or handheld light sources are required.

Two staffed aid stations support the course at Outlaw (around mile 4.3) and the Start/Finish. Aid station offerings include water, Tailwind endurance fuel, soda, sweet and salty snacks, fruit, and simple sandwiches, plus basic supplies such as Kleenex, bug repellant, and Vaseline. A designated crew and drop bag area is available at the Start/Finish only. Crew support is permitted only at that area; pacers are not allowed. Relay exchanges must occur at the Start/Finish.

Medical staff are located at the Start/Finish; Outlaw will carry basic first aid. Runners should be prepared for variable weather and for encountering wildlife on trail. All finishers receive a custom finisher medal and podium awards are given in solo and team categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
