Cannonball Run

Cannonball Run (Ehrhardt, South Carolina)

The Cannonball Run is a trail running event held at Broxton Bridge Plantation in Ehrhardt, South Carolina. The event offers a 34 hour race format, a Last Man Standing format, and a kids registration option for runners 14 and under. The course is a loop of about 3.3 miles that runs on dirt roads, double-track trails, and maintained grassy sections, with roughly 49 feet of elevation gain per loop.

The Last Man Standing format requires runners to complete each loop within 48 minutes and return to the start line at that interval to remain in the event. Race officials give 5, 2, and 1 minute warnings before each loop begins. The Last Man Standing winner completes a final solo lap; other participants receive credit for completed miles and may enter the 34 hour race.

Every runner is provided primitive camping and access to a bathhouse with toilets and hot showers. RV sites and two on-property bed and breakfast rooms are available through the venue. There is one aid station at the start/finish that is stocked with snacks and drinks including water, coffee, soda, PBJ, chips, pretzels, gummy candy, and Skratch Hydration Mix. Runners must carry any supplies they will require while on the 3.3 mile loop.

Awards include a custom medal for anyone who completes at least one loop, a buckle for 100 or more miles, an engraved cannonball for the Last Man Standing winner, and top three awards in several divisions. Packet pickup times are to be determined. The event runs rain or shine; refunds are not offered but bib transfers and an optional insurance option are available.
