The Cannock Chase Wildwood Trail Series takes place on Saturday 28 February 2026 at Cannock Chase Forest, Birches Valley, Rugeley. The event offers two route options:

  • Half Marathon (2 laps)
  • 10K (1 lap)

Courses run on marked and natural woodland trails through pine forest, open heathland and glades. The route includes steep climbs, fast descents and some muddy, technical sections. Canicross places are available and the event is dog friendly. Participants must be at least 17 years old for the Half Marathon and at least 15 years old for the 10K. Push-buggies are not permitted.

Location, entry and facilities

Parking is available at the Birches Valley main car park. The nearest train stations, Rugeley Trent Valley and Rugeley Town, are both approximately 2 miles away. Early bird entry prices listed are £32 for the Half Marathon and £22 for the 10K; all entries are subject to a small booking fee.

The event features a fully marked course, aid stations, chip timing, online results, marshals on route and event photography. Finishers receive a medal and there is an eco medal option. Organisers state a range of eco measures, including recycled materials in the event set-up, no plastic cups at water stations, water bowls for dogs, and encouragement of low-impact transport.
