Camp Hook 4 Hour Trail Runs
The Camp Hook 4 Hour Trail Runs at Twin Creek MetroPark feature two distinct timed distance events. Participants may choose between the individual format or a team relay. Both events take place at the historic Camp Hook Campground, situated at the southern point of the park on a course consisting of approximately 1.85-mile loops.
The course composition is primarily trail with roots, making up 95 percent of the path, while the remaining 5 percent consists of grass. Runners navigate moderate elevation changes and a dry creek bed crossing, which is subject to weather conditions. The route utilizes the purple trail and single-track paths around Lake George, where seasonal plant growth and Redbud trees are visible.
The event options include:
- Solo Event: An individual 4-hour race for single participants.
- 4 Hour Relay: A team event for groups of two or three people.
For the relay portion, team members alternate loops, with only one runner per team permitted on the course at a time. The start and finish area is located in a large open meadow known as the Parade Field. An aid station at this location provides water, drinks, and traditional trail race snacks. Participants are permitted to bring lawn chairs and one small pop-up canopy per team to set up in the organized camp area.
Finisher awards are provided to all participants. Specialized recognition is given for the highest loop totals in individual and team categories. Additionally, primitive camping is available at the site on Saturday night in designated camping areas that lack electricity or running water.
