Bryce Canyon Ultras

Bryce Canyon Ultras is a multi-distance trail event based at Lucky 7 Ranch in Hatch, Utah. The race weekend includes these distances:

  • 100 miles
  • 50 miles
  • 60 km
  • 50 km
  • 30 km
  • Half marathon (13.1 miles)

Courses run around the northern half and western edge of the Paunsaugunt Plateau and include sections of doubletrack and singletrack. Many miles cross high plateau terrain with long stretches alongside the Sevier River and notable sections on the Grandview Trail and Thunder Mountain Trail, which features steep descents through hoodoo formations. The 100-mile route includes approximately 16,000 feet of climbing. Typical course elevations sit between about 7,000 and 9,000 feet.

Aid stations are placed throughout the courses and are stocked with electrolytes, fruit, sweet and salty snacks, and later hot food at some locations. Examples from prior years show 15 full aid stations and six water only stations for the 100 mile race, and seven full plus three water only stations for the 50 mile race. Drop bag rules, crew and pacer permissions, and required gear are specified by distance; required items include a headlamp, a hydration system, and an offline course map device.

An expo and bib pickup is scheduled the day before the races. Camping is available at the race headquarters with tent, RV, and car sites and on-site shower service. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
