Bryce Canyon Ultras

The Bryce Canyon Ultra Marathons take place in Hatch, Utah, on a course that circumnavigates the northern half and western edge of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. This rugged mountain event is held at high elevation, with most miles situated between 7,000 and 9,000 feet. The terrain consists of technical dirt and sand trails, offering views of the iconic hoodoo formations and the Sevier River.

The event features several distance options to accommodate different endurance goals:

  • 100 Mile: Includes approximately 16,000 feet of climbing.
  • 50 Mile: Covers 51.2 miles across the plateau and Red Canyon.
  • 60K: A 60-kilometer ultra through high-country terrain.
  • 50K: A 50-kilometer course featuring the Thunder Mountain Trail.
  • 30K: A 30-kilometer route through Proctor Canyon.
  • Half Marathon: A 13.1-mile scenic mountain course.

The race headquarters, start, and finish lines are located at Lucky 7 Ranch. This remote site serves as the hub for the race expo, bib pickup, and a primitive campground for participants. Due to the nature of the landscape, the event follows cup-free racing protocols. Support varies by distance; for example, pacers and crew are permitted for the 100 Mile and 50 Mile distances but are not allowed for the 30K, 50K, or Half Marathon.

Participants are required to check in at aid stations, and those running during early morning or night hours must carry a headlamp. The courses are marked with pink flags, ribbons, and reflective tape for nighttime visibility. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
