Breakneck Point - Red Newt Racing
Breakneck Point is a trail race held at University Settlement Camp in Beacon, NY. The event offers two distances that feature large cumulative elevation changes and technical terrain. The course uses jeep trails, single-track, historic estate paths, and winding technical sections. Its signature climb, Breakneck Point, is steep and exposed and includes sections that require hands-on scrambling and careful footing. Organizers note the course has substantial elevation gain and loss and challenging, technical pitches.
Entrants may expect staffed aid stations positioned on the course and basic provisions including Tailwind, water, Coke, Huma Gel while supplies last, pretzels, cookies, fruit, and peanut butter or jelly. Crew support and pacing are restricted to official aid station locations. Full marathon entrants can leave drop bags at the University Settlement Camp aid station.
The event package includes race entry, post-race food, a Patagonia cap, a cool short sleeve shirt, and a finisher item described as a Ragged Cuts medal. Post-race refreshment is provided by Industrial Arts Brewing. The organizer publishes course maps and GPX files for both distances and schedules a front half course preview in April 2027. The race has a no refund policy; distance changes, rollovers, and camping options are described by the organizers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
