Breakneck Point
Breakneck Point is a technical trail running event held May 8, 2027 at University Settlement Camp in Beacon, NY. Registration opens October 17 on UltraSignUp. Entrants receive race entry, post-race food, a race shirt, and a Ragged Cuts medal. Lodging partners and informal on-site camping are available.
The event offers two distances:
- Half Marathon : ~14.5 miles, ~4,800 ft gain/loss
- Full Marathon : ~26.4–26.5 miles, ~9,000 ft gain/loss
The course includes jeep trails, single-track, historic estate paths, and exposed technical sections. The signature climb at Breakneck Point is steep and exposed and at points requires climbing and tolerance of exposure. The terrain has significant elevation gain and loss and includes technical, steep pitches. Organizers note a significant risk associated with the terrain and advise that only seasoned and prepared entrants participate.
Aid stations and support follow set rules. Half course has an aid station at Cold Spring; the full course includes Cold Spring, University Settlement Camp, and Sunnyside. Aid station provisions include Tailwind, water, Coke, Huma Gel while supplies last, pretzels, cookies, fruit, and PB/J. Crew support is allowed only at official aid stations and pacing by crew is not permitted. Full marathon runners may leave drop bags at University Settlement Camp.
A front half course preview is scheduled for April 10, 2027, and pre-race check-in is available the day before the race. The race enforces cut-off times to keep runners moving; target and hard cut durations apply at specific aid stations and for course completion.
