Breakneck Point

Breakneck Point is a trail event at University Settlement Camp in Beacon, NY on Sunday, May 3, 2026. It offers both a half and a full course with substantial elevation change over technical terrain.

Distances

  • Half: ~14.5 miles, ~4,800 feet gain/loss
  • Full: ~26.4 miles, ~9,000 feet gain/loss

The course uses jeep trails, single-track, historic estate paths, and winding technical sections. It features several sustained climbs and descents, including the signature Breakneck Point climb, which is steep, exposed, and at times requires using hands. Some stretches have technical footing and significant exposure.

Aid stations are located on both courses; locations include Cold Spring and University Settlement Camp with additional support on the full course. Provisions listed for aid stations include Tailwind, water, Coke, gels while supplies last, pretzels, cookies, fruit, and peanut butter or jelly. Crew support is allowed only at official aid stations; pacing by crew is not permitted. Full marathon entrants may leave drop bags at University Settlement Camp.

The event includes post-race food and participant items such as a Patagonia cap style short sleeve shirt and a finisher’s Ragged Cuts medal. Organizers apply cut-off times at aid stations and on course; hard cuts will be enforced. The event has a no-refund policy, allows distance switches up to one week before race day, and permits rollovers if organizers are notified 30 days or more before race day.
