Breakneck Point Trail Runs
The Breakneck Point Trail Runs take place at the University Settlement Camp in Beacon, New York. This event features technical terrain including jeep trails, single-track, historic estate paths, and winding trails that vary between open and technical sections. The course is characterized by several profile climbs and descents with significant elevation gain and loss.
Registered participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 14.5 Miles (Half Marathon) with approximately 4,800 feet of elevation gain.
- 26.4 Miles (Full Marathon) with approximately 9,000 feet of elevation gain.
The route includes the signature Breakneck Point climb, which is known for its steep, exposed, and technical nature. Due to the difficulty of the footing and the steep pitches, some sections may require climbing and a tolerance for exposure. The course has established cut-off times to ensure participants progress within a specific timeframe and to manage trail congestion.
Aid stations are positioned along the routes, providing water, electrolytes, gels, and various snacks. Marathon participants have access to three aid stations and may utilize a drop bag at the 14.4-mile mark. Support from crews is strictly limited to official aid station locations, and pacing by crew members is not permitted. On-site informal camping is available at the University Settlement Camp for participants who arrange it during registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
