Breakneck Point Trail Runs
Breakneck Point Trail Runs takes place Sunday, May 3, 2026 at University Settlement Camp in Beacon, NY. The event offers two distance options with significant elevation gain and technical terrain.
- Half: ~14.5 Miles, ~4,800' gain/loss
- Full: ~26.4 Miles, ~9,000' gain/loss
The course traverses jeep trails, single-track, historic estate paths, and winding technical sections. It includes steep and exposed climbing on Breakneck Point, sections that may require using hands, and varied footing that demands experience on technical terrain. Entrants include competitive mountain and technical trail runners as well as participants who plan to hike or run at a noncompetitive pace. The organizer notes the risk associated with the terrain and specifies that only athletes who are seasoned and prepared should enter.
Aid stations are located roughly at Cold Spring, University Settlement Camp, and Sunnyside depending on distance. Provisions include Tailwind, water, Coke, gels while they last, pretzels, cookies, fruit, and peanut butter or jelly. Crew support is permitted only at official aid station locations and pacing from crew is not allowed. Full marathon runners may leave a drop bag at University Settlement Camp near the aid station.
The event has a capacity limit of 550 entrants, a no‑refund policy, and allows distance switches and rollovers under stated advance-notice conditions. Course maps and GPX files are available for download. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
