Hare Mountain 100
The Hare Mountain 100 takes place October 23, 2026 at Haw Creek Falls Recreation Area in northwestern Arkansas on the Boston Mountain segment of the Ozark Highlands Trail. It is a 100 mile point to point endurance run that uses 100 miles of the trail and incorporates two scenic spur loops.
The organizer describes the course as extremely difficult, with big climbs and many smaller steep climbs in between. The trail terrain includes rocky, steep and rugged hardwood, cedar and pine forests, creek crossings, waterfalls, bluffs and sandstone outcrops. Hare Mountain is the highest point on the Ozark Highlands Trail at about 2400 feet. Measured elevation gain for the course ranges from about 20,000 to 24,400 feet depending on device and mapping method.
Participants must be self sufficient for long stretches, carry safety gear, and be comfortable navigating with only trail blazes and wooden signs. A satellite GPS tracker and the course GPX on a phone are required for the 100 mile race and will be checked at check in. Some major aid stations are up to about 12 miles apart; most are closer. Runners have 38 hours to complete the course, and if a runner departs the last aid at Salt Fork before its cutoff but reaches the finish after 38 hours they still receive an official finish and buckle.
