Event Details

The Hare Mountain 100 is a 100-mile point-to-point trail run. It takes place on October 23, 2026, at the Haw Creek Falls Recreation Area in the northwestern part of Arkansas. The course traverses the Boston Mountain segment of the Ozark Highlands Trail, a National Scenic Trail.

Course Information

The route utilizes 100 miles of what is described as the most difficult sections of the Ozark Highlands Trail. The terrain is noted as extremely rugged and isolated, featuring big climbs and relentless smaller, steep climbs. The course incorporates two scenic spur loops. The trail is marked with white blazes for the main trail and blue blazes for spurs. Participants can expect several creek crossings, hardwood forests, and potential for fall colors. The highest point on the course is Hare Mountain, at approximately 2400 feet. The event is a cupless race; each runner receives a reusable cup at the start.

Requirements and Logistics

This is described as an advanced-level, graduate-level endurance event. Runners must be comfortable with self-sufficiency, navigation, and carrying extra gear for safety. A satellite GPS tracking device and a downloaded course GPX file on a phone are mandatory; the tracker will be checked at check-in. The event has a 38-hour time limit for the 100-mile distance. Runners who start from the final aid station before its cutoff but finish after 38 hours are still considered official finishers and receive a belt buckle.
