Hare Mountain 100
The Hare Mountain 100 is a point to point 100 mile trail run on the Ozark Highlands Trail in northwest Arkansas, held October 23, 2026 at Haw Creek Falls Recreation Area. The course uses 100 miles of the Boston Mountain segment and includes two scenic spur loops.
The route passes through rocky, steep hardwood, cedar and pine forests and reaches Hare Mountain, the highest point on the Ozark Highlands Trail at about 2400 feet. Runners will encounter big climbs, many shorter steep climbs, several creek crossings, waterfalls, bluffs and sandstone outcrops. Trail marking uses white blazes for the main trail and blue blazes for spurs; the trail is maintained by volunteers of the Ozark Highlands Trail Association.
The event requires a satellite GPS tracking device and downloading the course GPX; equipment will be checked at check in. The race is cupless; each runner receives a reusable cup at the start. Organizers advise participants to be self sufficient, able to navigate with limited extra marking, and prepared to carry additional safety gear for long distances between major aid stations. Measured elevation gain for the course ranges from about 20,000 to 24,400 feet depending on device or app. Runners have 38 hours to complete the 100 mile course.
