Runners use the Bizz Johnson Trail for the outbound portion and return on the Southside Trail across the Susan River. The 22K follows about 6 miles of the Bizz Johnson Trail to Devil's Corral, then drops to the river, crosses a seasonal foot bridge, and returns on the Southside Trail. The 14K follows about 4 miles to the first railroad tunnel, then climbs over the tunnel to the Southside Trail for the return. The 7K climbs about 2 miles to the Twin Bridges access connector before returning on the Southside singletrack. The course is reversed in odd years.
Logistics and services
The field is capped at 150 runners total across all events. Aid stations will offer fruit, salty snacks, Heed electrolyte, and water; specific stations are at mile 3.8 (lower tunnel), mile 5.94 (Devil's Corral, 22K), and on the Southside Trail about 2 miles from the finish (all distances). This is a cup-less event, so participants must carry their own hydration systems; a collapsible cup is provided at packet pickup. Finishers receive a custom medal and a custom beach towel. Overall awards are given 1st-3rd (M/F/NB) and age-group awards 1st-3rd in 10-year brackets. Packet pickup is at the Susanville Historic Train Depot and there is morning pickup at Hobo Camp.
