Bizz Johnson's Southside Scramble takes place on June 20, 2026, at the Hobo Camp Day Use Area in Susanville, CA. The event uses a loop course in the lower Susan River Canyon that follows the Bizz Johnson Trail for the outbound portion and returns on the Southside Trail across the river. The race is capped at 150 runners and all races start and finish at Hobo Camp Day Use Area. Finishers receive a custom medal and a custom microfiber towel. Overall awards are given for 1st to 3rd places (male, female, non-binary) and age-group awards are given 1st to 3rd in 10-year groups.

Course, aid and logistics
Course details: the 22K follows the Bizz Johnson Trail outbound to Devil's Corral, drops to the Susan River, crosses a seasonal foot bridge, then returns on the Southside Trail. The 14K goes outbound to the first railroad tunnel, then climbs over the tunnel to the Southside Trail for the return. The 7K goes to the Twin Bridges access connector and returns on the Southside singletrack. On odd-numbered years the course is run in reverse.
Aid stations serve fruit, salty snacks, Heed electrolyte drink, and water. Aid Station 1 is at mile 3.8 on the Bizz Johnson Trail, Aid Station 2 at Devil's Corral (mile 5.94) for the 22K, and Aid Station 3 is on the Southside Trail about 2 miles from the finish and serves all distances. This is a cup-less race; runners must bring a collapsible cup or hydration system. Packet pickup is at the Susanville Historic Train Depot. Parking options include Hobo Camp, Miller Road trailhead (about 0.25 mile walk), and the Bizz Johnson Trailhead across from the Susanville Historic Train Depot (about 0.75 mile walk).
