The BIG BAD RUCK is a timed rucking challenge held on private ranch land in Gilmer, Texas at Pineywoods Valley Trails (5293 State Hwy 300). The event offers 3 hour, 6 hour, 12 hour, and 24 hour ruck formats on a repeated 2 mile loop. The loop is dirt single-track trail with creek crossings and about 130 ft of elevation gain per loop. Course, requirements and camping
The course is fully marked and supported with aid stations providing food and hydration. Participants must provide their own water-carrying system because cups are not provided. Required equipment includes a rucksack, weight vest, or other weight carrier, and personal hydration and medication supplies. Weight rules apply: participants over 150 lbs carry 30 lb; participants under 150 lbs carry 20 lb. Awards include patches for each time challenge, a 24 hour jacket, a 24 hour DFL award, a special 50 Mile award, and first place awards for male and female in each challenge. Tent and car camping are offered on-site for event nights; the camping area has no water or electricity, porta-potties are provided, the area is not level, and quiet hours are observed from 9PM to 5AM.
