Australian Outback Marathon
The Australian Outback Marathon takes place in Central Australia around Uluru and Kata Tjuta on 25 July 2026. The event offers a range of distances and is staged largely on private land and resort areas, providing views of Uluru and Kata Tjuta from the course.
Most of the route is on unsealed roads, bush tracks and soft-sand trails, with a few small sand dunes and a generally flat profile with a couple of inclines. Race entry is offered only as part of packaged itineraries that include transfers and accommodation; several package levels are listed for different durations and budgets. For 2026 many packages and entries are shown as sold out.
Package inclusions vary by level but may include return transfers between Connellan Airport and hotels for scheduled flights, accommodation, selected meals, race day transfers, finishers medal and certificate, race photography, and national park passes. One longer package includes a Kings Canyon day tour. Some packages note a limited edition event running top when booked by specific dates.
The event also records community and cultural engagement. Organisers provide free entries for local Yulara Primary School students and support participation by surrounding Anangu schools.
