Australian Outback Marathon

Event overview

The Australian Outback Marathon is scheduled for 25 July 2026 in the Uluru region of central Australia. The course runs on private land and offers views of Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Most of the route is on unsealed roads, bush tracks and soft-sand trails, with a few small sand dunes and a couple of inclines; the organiser describes the surface as “Red Earth.” The event engages the local Yulara community by providing race entries to resort staff and free entries for every student at the local primary school. The organiser also sponsors schools from surrounding Anangu Pipalyatjara communities and involves the Anangu Communities Foundation in event activities.

Race entry is available only as part of one of the event packages. Package options include Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver and Red Earth, each with different durations, prices and inclusions. Common inclusions across packages include guaranteed race entry, accommodation nights (varies by package), race day transfers, finishers medal and certificate, and race photography. Some packages include Uluru-Kata Tjuta national park passes, airport transfers from Connellan (Ayers Rock) Airport for scheduled flights, and specific tours such as a Kings Canyon day tour in the Platinum itinerary.
